About Move Better

  • Physiotherapy is a treatment aimed at improving or restoring movement and function after pain, injury or illness. It may include manual therapies such as massage, but that is only a small part of physio and for many conditions treatment will focus on exercise and management strategies.

  • We offer musculoskeletal physiotherapy, in other words treating conditions affecting the joints, bones and soft tissues. You will be asked about any other medical condition as part of your assessment; your treatment will then be tailored to your individual needs.

  • We specialise in musculoskeletal physiotherapy, in other words treating conditions affecting the joints, bones and soft tissues. Physiotherapy can be used to help other problems; if we feel we are not the best people to help you then we may recommend a different specialist.

  • Yes, but please advise your physiotherapist of your pregnancy so we can make sure your treatment is safe for you.

About physiotherapy

  • Your appointment will start with lots of questions from your therapist so they can understand your problem and the symptoms you experience. They will also ask about your medical history to make sure that all treatments offered are appropriate for you. You may also be asked about your work or hobbies, this is so that we can tailor our advice to best meet your needs.

Your therapist will then carry out a physical assessment that may include watching you move, some clinical tests or palpation of the affected area.

You will then be advised on the assessment findings and discuss a treatment plan with your therapist.

  • You will need to be able to move around comfortably during your appointment, so please wear something that does not restrict your movement. Sports clothing or something loose fitting is ideal.

Remember that your physiotherapist may need to see the affected area so try and wear something that you can move or remove easily. Your physiotherapist will ensure you are comfortable at all times.

You will be able to change clothing before or during your appointment if required.

  • This will depend on the nature of your condition and your treatment goals. Your physiotherapist will discuss your treatment plan with you at the time of your assessment.

  • Yes, you are welcome to bring a chaperone with you to your appointments.
